About Us

Morris L. Preston established Preston Engineering, Inc. (Preston) in the Quad Cities area in 1995. The Des Moines Regional Office was established in 1996 to review risk-based corrective action reports for the Underground Storage Tanks (UST) Section of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. Additionally, Preston is licensed by the State of Illinois as a Professional Design Firm and currently employs a combined staff of 11 professionals. 

Preston staff in both offices are adept at providing a wide array of environmental services, including solutions to air, water, solid/hazardous waste, remediation, and compliance problems. The Preston staff of skilled professionals is expert in all federal environmental regulations (e.g., CAA, CWA, RCRA, CERCLA, SARA) as well as environmental regulations unique to Iowa and Illinois.  Furthermore, Preston's licensed and certified professionals have extensive training in their areas of expertise. Preston's staff includes: 

  • Professional Engineers licensed in Iowa, Illinois, and Nebraska

  • A Professional Geologist licensed in Illinois

  • Groundwater Professionals certified by the State of Iowa

  • Environmental Engineers licensed in Iowa

  • A Qualified Environmental Professional certified by the Institute of Environmental Practice

  • Professionals who maintain Hazardous Waste Operations and
    Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) certification

  • An Iowa Well Contractor

  • A certified Asbestos Inspector

  • A certified Air Opacity Reader

Preston's staff of seasoned environmental consultants draw on their substantial foundation of experience and training when working closely with clients in Iowa and Illinois to address environmental problems and compliance with government requirements. Among other things, Preston is currently assisting with the redevelopment of contaminated properties and has reviewed risk-based corrective action (RBCA) reports for more than 3,500 leaking underground storage tank sites in Iowa. Preston staff also support and are members of various professional organizations.
